Things I'm Testing Out in February
Peace family, This is going to be a new series on the blog. I'm venturing into minimalism thanks to Marie Kondo and getting rid of the things that don't bring me joy. In doing this, I'm getting myself and my space up. I've already decluttered my makeup, and skincare of things that weren't working for me. But I don't have anything to replace them with. I would like to create a capsule makeup and skincare collection ( I got this idea from Tiffany DeSilva).
This got me thinking about buying sample size products or tester kits each month to see what will make it into my capsule collection. And so this series was born.
I most people that consider themselves to be minimalists try to limit what they buy for the entire year, but I feel that I won't be able to do that until I know the things that will be Staples for me. So maybe in June, I'll have my spring and summer capsules created. Until then, I'll be making these posts.
Items I'll be testing:
100% Pure Coffee Bean Eye Cream - I have actually used this item in the past, but I want to create a consistent morning and night time skincare routine. I wear glasses which tend to magnify my eye area, so I think an eye cream will be an asset. 100% Pure recently released this set, so I also have the mascara and eye masks in the picture.
AM/PM Skincare Routine - I do not currently have a skincare routine, and now seems to be a good a time as any to start. I'll be using a bar of goats milk soap, the previously mentioned eye cream, some toner and two different kinds of moisturizer.
Miracle Morning Routine: I also don't have a morning routine. I'm not a morning person, but after reading half of and listening to the entire Miracle Morning book by Hal Elrod, I decided to give it a shot. I'll leave a link to a video giving a summary of the book.
Bullet Journaling: You may not know this about me, but I used to be into planning. So much so that I would plan Christmas with my sister every year. From the time we would go to bed, to how many steps it would take us to reach the tree, I would plan it all. However, once high school hit, I fell out of my planning phase. I noticed that I became pretty scatter brained and would often miss things that I had intended to do for myself. So I bought a purple dotted journal and watched some videos on bullet journaling on YT. I've since been working on my own to help me stay organized. I'll be sure to post pictures of how it went in the follow up next month.
Buti Yoga - It's not secret that I have a love hate relationship with yoga. I love how it makes me feel and I hate the fact that I don't live in a yoga studio. I put my practice on hold while I made some changes to my life, but I missed yoga and how it made me feel. So I went back to the studio. And then I started looking into different styles of yoga. Buti Yoga is probably the most club friendly version of yoga I've ever seen. And I'm so here for it. I plan to have my boyfriend, Stanley, help me take before and after photos to see my results and I'll be sharing those too. I did pick up three different packages, but I'll be starting with the Dynamic Flow set, which is designed for beginners.
Law of Nature Foxy Finish Mineral Creme Foundation - So I already have a foundation in my makeup capsule, but I am a huge advocate for green beauty and black owned businesses. So I'm going to try out this foundation to see if it will make it into my capsule collection. This foundation comes in both satin and matte. Satin is recommended for normal, combo or dry skin types, so this is the formula I'm going to go with. They sell sample sizes, so I'm going to buy a few of those in my shade and pick up a full size if it works out for me.
Well this is everything that I'm planning on testing out for the month. Let me know some things you're planning on trying out and some suggestions for next month.
Until next time,
