I posted my battle of the natural deodorants a few weeks ago. Since then, the season has changed and so have some of the deodorants that I've used. Since I've added some things to my armpit routine, I'm sharing what I do and why. I currently alternate between 3 deodorants: Patchouli Level 2 Jar from Primal Pit Paste, and both the Shea Butter and Activated Charcoal deodorant from Lotus Organics.
It was brought to my attention by someone at my job that the deodorant I was using wasn't strong enough to last through my entire 8 hour shift. My mother later confirmed that my deodorant wasn't standing up to the higher summer temperatures. So I picked up some sample sizes from Primal Pit Paste and eventually graduated to the full size. I picked the patchouli scent because it goes with the vibe that I try to put out into the universe. Laid back, earthy, grounded and positive.
The P3 contains both baking soda and arrowroot powder. Both of these work to help you feel dry even while you're sweating. However, on the downside, it contains baking soda. With prolonged use baking soda causes my armpits to dry out. Eventually this leads to my skin to become dry, cracked, flaky and itchy.
To prevent the dryness and itchiness I exfoliate the my armpits. I do this on nights that I know I will be off the next day. So on Tuesday nights (because I'm off on Wednesday), I'll exfoliate my armpits with my Clarisonic or with a konjac sponge. If I use the Clarisonic, then I go without deodorant at night. If I use the sponge, I'll use the Activated Charcoal Deodorant because it's good from helping my armpits detox.
